NATIONAL ECZEMA WEEK

NATIONAL ECZEMA WEEK

It’s National Eczema Week!

Did you know that eczema affects 1 in 5 children and 1 in 12 adults? Most people have heard about eczema, but few truly understands just how painful and difficult this long-term skin condition can be. It’s only if you, or someone in your family has eczema, you can understand how it can impact every aspect of your life.

The good news is that most children who have eczema will grow out of the condition by the time they are in their teens, however eczema cannot be cured, but it can be controlled with the right treatments.

Our wipes and toiletries are specially designed for those suffering from eczema. We have been working for years with pediatricians and eczema experts so we can offer products free from alcohol, parabens, lanolin, fragrance and other nasty chemicals that damage sensitive skin. We rely on the healing power of nature to protect, soften and strengthen your baby’s delicate skin.

Some signs of eczema include patches of red, dry and itchy skin on the face or behind the ears and in the creases of the neck, knees and elbows, so keep an eye on these areas!

Some top tips for eczema include;

Avoid using scented products – the chemicals in scented products will irritate your baby’s skin, this is why at Jackson Reece our wipes, shampoo, body wash and moisturiser are all unscented with 99% of our ingredients derived from vegetable or plant extracts.

Moisturise  this is so important! Keeping the skin hydrated and moist will protect it from irritation and chapping. Our Jackson Reece unscented moisturiser is specially designed for children with eczema and sensitive skin.

Keep Cool  heat can irritate the skin. Keep your baby’s room cool, store moisturiser or medicated cream in the fridge. Dress your baby in loose, light layers (cotton is best) to prevent overheating.

Avoid bathing too often  this can strip your baby’s skin of protective oils and dry it out further. Bathe in luke warm water and use our Jackson Reece body wash which is full of organic ingredients. Be careful when towel drying the skin as this can dry it out further.

DON’T use polyester cloth wipes – polyester is a plastic material and is rough and abrasive to all types of skin, especially sensitive and eczema delicate skin. Jackson Reece wipe cloth is made from natural wood pulp instead of the synthetic polyester many other companies use (you would be surprised how many do!)
